Lethimpilo

- This organization is a shelter for approximately 12 orphans. They provide day care and meals for local orphans who live roughly. There give home care, organize information courses on AIDS and sexual education.

- Mrs. Mbatha leads ‘Lethimpilo’. She is an elderly woman of about 70 years, with reduced mobility. She invests half of her pension in the organization. She has the help of some women from the village.

- The buildings are outdated and in a poor state. Two or three children have to share one bed. The cookeries are broken and there is only one small gas burner, which is dangerous for the children. Due to a lightning strike the only computer, they got from a sponsor crashed. The sanitation is appalling, hygiene conditions are very bad, and cockroaches are everywhere.

- At the time of our visit, the only available food was a bag of expired vegetables, which they had received at the local supermarket.

- This project is one of the largest challenges for Sprinkle. Mrs. Mbatha is really too old to lead this project on her own and desperately needs an assistant.

- It was formerly funded by the church, now they only get little governmental aid. Due to the new fiscal year, payments are already 6 months behind.

- Sprinkle's plans: We want to send a team of volunteers to patch up and renovate the buildings, to search for an assistant to Ms Mbatha to revive the project and make a deal with the local supermarket about supplies for the shelter.
